Ashley is orginally from Naples, Florida. She began her career as a dancer 10 years ago with the Fred Astaire organization. She is well versed in all styles of Ballroom dance, and has graced the competitive dance floor in the American Smooth division. She has trained with many internationally renowned coaches in both the Latin and Smooth styles of dance and has received certificiations in these styles of dance. She has performed in numerous clubs throughout South Florida, and has performed as part of the Dancesation! ensemble.
Ashley's teaching style is attentive, fun and energetic.
Argentine Tango: Armando Orzuza & Nuria Martinez
Armando and Nuria are a very accomplished dance team! Armando is from Argentina, and Nuria is originally from Spain. Armando started learning Tango at the age of 14 from the original “Milongueros” of Buenos Aires. He began his professional dance career in 1990. With his original partner, Daniela Arcuri, he appeared on Broadway in the show Tango Passion. He was a principal dancer in the Robert Duvall’s movie “Assassination Tango”, and worked as consultants on the movie “Evita” . He also appeared with Julio Iglesias and did choroegraphy featured on Madonna’s “Re-invention” tour.
Nuria is a well trained dancer and has taught master workshops in not only Tango, but in Modern Dance as well around the world. In 2005 she began to study Tango professionally with Armando, and quickly rose to achieve an important place in the Tango world. To the precious and valuable experience of learning, sharing and dancing with Armando, she brings her vast previous knowledge and performance experience. Nuria graduated from Empire State University with a BA in Dance and Education. She has appeared all over the world as a Tango dancer, and has danced in the show “Tango Sensual” in Italy, and at “Jazz at Lincoln Center” as well as numerous other featured performances throughout the world.
A Julliard graduate, Herman has performed with the Aspen Ballet and has also appeared in the international tours of "Fosse" and "West Side Story"; and in 9 to 5 on Broadway, The New York City Center's Encore's production of "The Wiz", House of Flowers, Pajama Game, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular (2000 - 2012) and Michael Jackson's 30th Anniversary Special.
Besides Michael Jackson, Herman has worked with Mariah Carey, Usher, Mya, Destiny's Chile, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, Thalia, Tony Moran, Lisa Lisa, Kevin Aviance, Love INC and Camp LO.
Her has choreographed various industrials and corporate events with Dancesation Productions. He is on the seasonal staff of the acclaimed Broadway Theatre Project.
In addition to working with us here at FaMa, he also will be teaching at the Miami City Ballet, for whom he has taught intensives in the past.
Herman has been the choreographer for the annual IHSC Dance Dimensions Gala since 2008. We are delighted with his return home to South Florida, and to have him as part of the FaMa family.

Salsa: Richard Joel
Richard was born in Orlando, Florida and raised in Puerto Rico. Richard immersed himself in the art of dance since 2005, training and performing with some of the best Latin dancers and choreographers in the world. He has developed skills in different genres but has always been driven by the cultural rhythms of Puerto Rico and Cuba.
He has performed on stage with such artists as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, El Gran Combo, Ruben Blades, Tito Nieves, NG2, Roberto Rohena, Jerry Rivera, Luisito Carrion, Michael Stewart, amongst others….
In Puerto Rico, he belonged to the cultural and folk group Taller Yuba Ire, which performed Cuban Rumba as well as typical folkloric dances such as Bomba and Plena.
Richard was the director of one of the largest dance schools in Puerto Rico: Bayamon Ciudad Salsera, a program developed by Tito Ortos. He was also a pioneer of the entertainment group “Raza” one of the top teams from Puerto Rico.
Richard was also part of the World Salsa Summit Champion Men’s Shines Teams in 2015; Vivian Ayala’s “Afro Latin Dancers”.
Billy and Katie are one of the most highly recognized and iconic dance performance teams in the partner dance world, performing on every continent on the planet. Their unique style of dance and level of versatility has given them the unique ability to crossover and be appreciated by many a circuit, including General Theatre to Salsa, West Coast Swing, Latin Hustle, Ballroom and even Country Western.
With resumes spanning for Billy, over 40 years, and Katie over 35 years, both partners bring with them, both collectively and individually, a wealth of knowledge and experience to their newest endeavour, FaMa Studios.
They have amassed a list of credits that include live performances in some of the most highly recognized venues in the world, television, feature films, music videos and even print work. They have worked as Performers, Producers, Choreographers, Instructors and top tier Adjudicators. They have been the subjects of numerous magazine articles focusing on the partner dance world as well as television and documentaries.
Billy met Katie in 1998, and they have now been together for close to 16 years as a team. As competitors they garnered numerous titles. They are the only couple in the history of the United States to hold World Championship titles for two separate genres in the same year, winning for both Cabaret Exhibition and Latin Hustle. Billy also held the Vice Championship for both Salsa and Merengue. Other titles include US Open Cabaret Champions, 6 time United States Latin Hudstle Champions, NADC Cabaret Champions and more... They were also 4-time invitees to represent the United Sates at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival, considered to be the mecca of Ballroom Dance; an honor reserved for only 6-7 couples each year worldwide. They have been honored with numerous recognition award over the years for their contributions to the partner dance world.
Billy and Katie have also been instrumental in the development of the competitive dance circuits for both Salsa and Latin Hustle. They were the developers and the Head Judges for the World Salsa Championships that were featured on ESPN in 2005 and 2006. This judging system has been adopted by much of the Salsa and Hustle competition circuits across the globe.
Both Billy and Katie have made it their mission to nurture up and coming talent from the various dance communities. To that end, they have lately been also recognized as coaches and mentors for a number of the top competition teams seen on the floor today in circuits ranging from Ballroom, to Salsa to Latin Hustle and West Coast Swing. They also produce two of the most highly recognized social dance events in the world today -- the IHSC and the World Salsa Summit.
Billy and Katie are excited about the opening of FaMa Studios, and their mission is to nurture up and coming talent, passing on the legacy of dance to a new generation.
